The External Study office at LSE and the University of London are saddened to hear that student Ms Syeda Rabab Zehra Naqvi was part of the domestic passenger plane crash near Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan that killed all 152 people on board in what is thought to be the country’s deadliest civil aviation accident.

Ms Naqvi registered for the BSc Economics and Finance degree on the 1st September 2008 and had just completed her second year exams, achieving good marks along the way. She had recently received approval from the University to study Company Law concurrently as an LLB Occasional student. She attended Bayview College in Karachi.

Ms Naqvi, is from Karachi and was born on 11 May 1989. She was a Youth Information Minister of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan and completed her GCE O Levels from the Mama Parsi School and GCE A Levels from the Karachi Grammar School.

During her school years, she held various leadership positions, including memberships in various student councils. She was an elected office bearer of the Students’ Union in her current college. Miss Naqvi has interned at various institutions, including banks, media firms and NGOs, and planned to follow a career in national politics once her studies were completed.

We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies and condolences her family and friends, especially those she studied with and those who she communicated with on the VLE discussion forums. We would also like to extend our deepest sympathies to all the families and friends involved in this dreadful plane crash.
